Twilight’s Ashley Greene proposed for Teen Titans role

Ashley Greene and Starfire

Ashley Greene and Starfire

Among the many proposed comic book adaptations in the holding pen at Warner Bros is the junior superhero team Teen Titans.

The line-up has until recently included Starfire, a princess from the planet Tamaran who can harness ultraviolet radiation and use it to fly and to create destructive bolts of energy. She also has superhuman strength and can assimilate other languages through physical contact.

On some forums, fans have put forward the name of Twilight actress Ashley Greene – who plays Alice Cullen in the vampire film franchise – as one possibility to play the character.

Greene isn’t a bad choice for the role. The 22-year-old’s Twilight credentials would also boost the profile of any Teen Titans movie.

Megan Fox has also been suggested for Starfire – although she seems to be a fan candidate for every available female comic book role – along with Jenna Dewan.

But it doesn’t look like the Teen Titans film will get made anytime soon. A live-action movie adaptation was announced back in May 2007, with Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster producing and Mark Verheiden writing the script. However, nothing has been heard about the project for a long time.

The Teen Titans comic first appeared in 1964 as a junior Justice League, comprising Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl and Speedy, the respective sidekicks of Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Green Arrow.

In the 80s, the team was relaunched with the characters as college-age adults and new members including Cyborg, Starfire and Raven, while Robin matured into Nightwing.

Most recently, the comic was adapted into an animated TV series that ran from 2003-2006.

Verheiden had said of the proposed film: “One thing I can tell you is that there will be a Nightwing story and Robin is in it, too”, implying that Robin’s character arc would see him take on the Nightwing persona.

Heroes actor Milo Ventimiglia has said he would love to play Nightwing, as I reported last year.

A new comic book line-up for the Teen Titans is soon to be unveiled following the departure of Starfire, Cyborg and Wonder Girl.

The new team will be led by antihero Deathstroke, while former members Beast Boy and Raven are set to return.

Robin/Nightwing is no longer with the group, having now become the new Batman after the apparent death of Bruce Wayne.

We can only hope that Warner Bros’ new DC Entertainment division, tasked with bringing more DC Comics’ heroes to the screen, gives us some official news on the Teen Titans movie soon.

New Wonder Woman Script Like Raiders of The Lost Ark

With Warner Bros. looking to jump-start production on their DC Comics–related comic book movies, Wonder Woman may finally get her invisible jet off the ground and into theaters soon. No, the script’s not the Joss Whedon one, which was inexplicably tossed in the trash by Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver, but a brand new script from newcomers Brent Strickland and Matthew Jennison.

The two screenwriters wrote a spec script involving Wonder Woman in World War II that got Silver’s attention. Silver then asked for the script to be updated for modern times. In doing so, not unlike Whedon before them, Strickland says they had to take some liberties.

“We certainly took liberties on our spec Wonder Woman, but we also used a ton of stuff from the comic. My feeling is that ultimately something iconic like Wonder Woman needs to be a hybrid of the source material and the writer’s original inspiration. We feel an obligation to the fan base not only to treat the property with respect, but also to make it fresh — to reinvent the story without reinventing the wheel, so to speak”.

So what can fans look forward to in this new script?

Brent Strickland says “There should be breathtaking action sequences alongside character beats that allow the audience to relate to this Amazon princess, and moments where they get to laugh but not because it’s campy. People have described the spec as Wonder Woman meets Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think that’s a pretty good tone”.

Now it’s up to Silver and Warner Bros. to actually make the movie and not dump the script.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Wants Wonder Woman Role

Megan Fox has already expressed her disinterest in donning the golden tiara and bracelets to portray DC Comics’ Wonder Woman. Call her crazy, but other Hollywood babes are now chomping at the bit for the role — assuming Warner ever gets the film off the ground.

The latest Hollywood starlet to make a play for Wonder Woman is The Ghost

Whisperer herself, Jennifer Love Hewitt. “I want to play Wonder Woman really badly,” she expressed to MTV News at Comic-Con. “I want them to make the movie of Wonder Woman, and I want to play Wonder Woman so bad. That’d be really fun.”

Ultimately Hewitt wants to do an action movie other than being chased by a psycho with a sickle. The Tomb Raider reboot would be OK, but Wonder Woman is her dream project and she was not afraid to bullet point the reasons the suit would be a perfect fit.

“Curvaceous,” she began. “Gold bracelets! Look at these wrists — tell me gold bracelets would not look good! And I love little tiaras, and Wonder Woman got to wear one of those. I’m very athletic.”

Megan Fox the New ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’?

Posted by GoreMaster Special Effects on June 15, 2009

Megan Fox

Megan Fox

Of all the female stars of today, “Transformers” leading lady Megan Fox must be the most sought-after right now, despite not having yet proven her real worth to the world as Fox herself was saying just the other day. She reportedly passed on Lara Croft in “Tomb Raider” and She-Hulk, and she considers Wonder Woman lame, but a very persistent rumor says she’s about to get physical with vampires in the upcoming “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” film, IGN reports.
As we also informed you a while back, a new Buffy film is now in the works, aiming to separate itself both from the original 1992 movie and the cult television series that followed it. Joss Whedon, who acted as creator of the TV series, is not connected to the film in any way, the Kuzui spouses being the ones handling all aspects of the remake. On this note, rumor has it the Kuzuis want Megan Fox as the beautiful and deadly vampire slayer, just like any other movie boss in Hollywood.

Producer Roy Lee, while not downright denying the report, insists that, although going after Fox for the part would seem the logical step right now, the film is still in early development stages and a leading lady is not yet an issue of main concern. His statement to IGN can be seen as a denial for the above-mentioned rumor but, at the same time, it can also be regarded as a confirmation that Fox might be an option they will consider in the future, several movie-oriented publications point out.

“The rumors of Megan Fox being involved with Buffy are just rumors. As with any film project with a female lead under the age of 30, Megan is the actress that most studios want so it is no surprise her name is mentioned. While I think she would be great for our project, we are still in the early stages of developing the script.” Lee tells IGN. What this means is that, while they’re not thinking or speaking to Fox about doing Buffy right now, the chance that they might do so in the future is actually pretty good.
The new “Buffy” film aims to return to square one, as we were also telling you a short while back, distancing itself from the TV series that turned the slayer into a genuine icon. Should reports in this sense be accurate, the upcoming film will most likely include more than one slayer and clearly none of the characters the series made so popular (like Xander and Willow, to name just two). For more on this, keep an eye on this space.
