The cool dinosaurs-and-future-monsters series Primeval is not extinct after all. Fans can take heart because ITV.com has announced that there will be two new series of the show.
The production company responsible for Primeval, Impossible Pictures, has struck a new financing deal with BBC America and Germany’s Pro7 coming on board to provide the cash to produce Seasons 4 and 5.
ITV.com said series regulars Hannah Spearitt, Andrew-Lee Potts and Jason Flemyng (who joined in Season 3) will return for a total of 13 episodes split over the two seasons (British TV “seasons” are considerably shorter than the typical 20+ episodes in a US TV season).
Season 4 will air early next year on the free-to-air ITV1 channel, followed by a repeat on Britain’s new pay-TV channel, Watch.
Season 5 will then premiere later that year on Watch, and ITV1 will air it in 2011.
