Adrien Brody will star in “Robert Rodriguez’s Predators,” a reboot of the sci-fi franchise.
Topher Grace is in negotiations to join the action-adventure movie, to which Alice Braga (“I Am Legend”), Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (“The 4400″), Walt Goggins (“The Shield”), Rodriguez mainstay Danny Trejo and UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov have also been cast.
Nimrod Antal, who directed the Hungarian film “Kontroll,” is at the helm of the 20th Century Fox movie. Rodriguez is producing with Elizabeth Avellan.
Written by Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, the script follows a group of elite warrior types who are being hunted by members of a race of merciless alien trackers called Predators.
Brody plays a man who ends up inheriting the role of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.
Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose cannon of the group, and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent.
Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.
Shooting begins next month in Hawaii, then moves to moves to Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin. The movie is slated for a July 9, 2010, release.
Brody was last seen in Dario Argento’s “Giallo” and next voices the character of Rickity in Wes Anderson’s “The Fantastic Mr. Fox.” Grace will next be seen in the ensemble romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day.”
Even though Seth Rogen has been trying to convince fans that everything is proceeding smoothly on “The Green Hornet,” Columbia Pictures has just announced that it has moved the film from its July 7th, 2010 release date to December 17th, 2010.
“We’re both relieved and psyched about the change,” Rogen told HitFix. “It gives more time for post, which would have been immensely rushed if we were to come out in the summer.”
He continued: “It also affords us more time to promote the film, (now we can go to Comic-Con with more than a car!) and ultimately is a great vote of confidence from the studio. We got the same date that movies like ‘I Am Legend’ and ‘Avatar’ are getting, so we’re thrilled to be there.”
It is believed that the five month delay is created at the hands of Stephen Chow, who first signed to direct and star in “The Green Hornet” and then abandoned both positions. And since Columbia couldn’t have the Summer release, it was forced to push the film till December, another popular month for action films.

The Storyline: A vast salvage yard, lies nestled in the woods, on the edge of a Mid-Western town. Owned and operated by a pair of sadistic, murderous brothers, the yard is a place of death and unimaginable horror. At night, the salvage yard is watched over, not by canines of the four-legged breed, but by “Dog”, the owners’ tormented younger brother. Warped by years of abuse at the hands of his brothers, horribly deformed by generations of in-breeding, the feral boy (more beast, than man) prowls the shadowy confines of the junk yard, slaughtering anyone foolish enough to enter after night falls.” There’s more, of course…much more!
